We raise meat that you can feel good about!

Our story

Back 4T Farms is a real place, real ranch, with a real family behind it.  It all started in 2012 after the birth of their third daughter, Madeline.

Laura was diagnosed with Hashimotos Hypothyroidism, an autoimmune condition. After many hardships and wrong diagnosis' Laura found a functional medicine practitioner that gave her some hope.  It was there that she found the need to heal her gut and get her life back on track.

She realized that eating this new way was quite the challenge.  Most of the food at the grocery store was not what it was advertised to be and sourcing local, organic, pastured meats was difficult, to say the least.

That led Jim and Laura to raising their own food, how they wanted it grown. They wanted to make the land healthier, animals to not be confined to small spaces, and wanted the animals to choose which forage was best for them to eat. Just as humans choose what food they want to eat, animals should be given that choice as well and that's exactly what we strive to do.  Our pigs and chickens are given a ration of soy free, corn free organic feed everyday but are encouraged to browse and get most of their nutrition from the provided organic pastures.

Jim and Laura are very thankful for the opportunity to do what they do and hope that you find their meats to be superior in quality and taste.

FAQs

  • We supplement all of our pastured pigs and chickens a corn free, soy free, certified organic feed. Our cows graze on pasture 100% of the time and are never fed any grain.

  • We restock in seasons.  Beef processing season is spring and sometimes fall. Chickens are raised from Mid-February to October/November. We don’t raise chickens in the winter because it’s just too cold and we need a break.  Broilers chickens are needy! And pork is raised year-round.

  • We use regenerative practices here on our farm.  We rotate chickens behind our pigs.  We also run goats with our cows to minimize parasite load and reduce brush. And rotate pastures frequently.

  • We process, on farm, about ¾ of all the chicken that we raise.  That chicken is air chilled.  Since we do ship chicken out of state we also send about ¼ of the chicken we raise to a USDA processor.  Chicken that is processed on farm is not allowed to be shipped across state lines.  The chicken that is USDA processed is water chilled however, no chemicals, such as bleach, are ever used in the processing of that chicken.

Air chilled is currently unavailable for request.  We sell what we have in stock.  Most likely though, if you are in the state of Texas, you will receive chicken that has been processed on our farm and therefore, yes, it is air chilled. If you live out of the state, you will receive chicken that is USDA processed.

  • If an order is placed over the weekend, it will be shipped out on Monday. If it's placed on Monday, the order will ship out on Tuesday, and if placed on Tuesday, it'll ship out on Wednesday. Any orders placed on Wednesday-Friday will be shipped out the next Monday. This is because UPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays.

*Please note that this is the general framework for shipping orders. However, this is subject to change due to availability of dry ice, schedules, etc.

  • We ship all of our products overnight or 2nd day air with dry ice to ensure your product gets to you in a safe manner. Post CVD shipping got really expensive. Unfortunately, we would love to offer free or reduced shipping but the reality is, due to the nature of our product, we already loose 15-20% on shipping annually. Being a small farm, we just cannot afford to take a greater hit. However, please know that you are purchasing a high quality product and we do everything to ensure it gets to you in a timely manner.
